Who We Are
The Village Energy Project, Inc. (VE) is a not-for-profit, nongovernmental organization dedicated to bringing locally owned and small-scale renewable bio-energy projects to underdeveloped villages throughout the world.
Because electricity is central to all aspects of human social development: e.g. access to clean water, agricultural productivity, job creation, yet, approximately 1.6 billion people – 1 in every 4 – live without it.
Because the number one cause of death in children under five is acute respiratory infections (over two million deaths every year) caused by indoor air pollution (from cooking).
And because traditional biomass, wood and dung fuel sources result in mass deforestation.
